Course in Family Literacy

This Certificate II level course has been developed to assist parents with helping their children with their homework, or their school work up to year 10 level. It is offered together with the Certificate II in General Education for Adults, that includes a maths module, as well as modules on reading and writing skills. Parents learn how to help their children enjoy all learning activities. The course includes instruction on using computers for learning.

During: Term 1and 2, 2004 (rolling intake)
Times:10 hours per week 9.30 – 3.00 (1/2 hour for lunch) for 16 weeks
Venue: CREATE’s Osborne Park Centre
Cost: $1.50 per training hour

A beginners introduction to computers
Introduction to Word Processing
Introduction to Spreadsheets
How to surf the Internet & How to send and receive
     E-mail

If you have ever thought about computers and all the possibilities they can offer at home, your children and in your working life then this course is for you. It can set you on the path to fulfilling your first steps into the world of Information Technology and overcoming your fear of computers. You will learn how to:

BSZ40198 Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training

This is your opportunity to gain the skills that will assist you in finding work as an Adult Trainer. The Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training is the minimal qualification required to train adults. All of the units offered are from the nationally recognised training package.All units undertaken are eligible for credit transfer to other institutions and both the units and the course are recognised Australia wide.

Course duration:  2 Hours per week for 20 weeks (This course runs twice each year - in semester 1 and semester 3)

Cost:                   $650.00 (This is a fee for service course - a payment plan option is available)

Courses for the outdoor person (Gardening)

These courses are structured to suit various areas of landscaping and other streams in horticulture. They contain 25% of hands-on activities at our Gateway Reserve site (Seagull Paddock) and 75% of theory based activities conducted at Osborne Park.

       

Certificate II in Horticulture
Dates: Semester 2, Term 3
Times: 3 days per week for 20 weeks,
We provide hands-on learning on a peaceful 1-hectare property containing:
Poly-house

potting-up shed
hydroponic set-up
vegetable gardens
Wholesale plant nursery
An art and craft area containing a stage and indigenous paintings.
On-site are all the tools and equipment required to carry out all the functions necessary to meet the learning assessments.
This facility is dynamic and every class involved at this facility has impact on its development; this allows for its ongoing sustainability as a training venue and as a resource for the community as a whole
.

Course Duration: This course runs for the whole year
Dates: Course commences each year in the first week of the school term.
Times: 3 days per week, for ten weeks then two days per week class time for thirty weeks (one day per week will be practical placement. the practical placement will not commence until the first aid certificate and the back care / lifting modules have been completed)
Venue: Osborne Park
Cost: $1.50 per training hour
(in line with Ministerial Fees - Concessions available)

 

Practical Placement
In order to satisfy the requirements of completion for the full Certificate III in Community Services (Aged Care) and/or the full Certificate III in Community Services (Community Work), at least 100 hours of practical placement must be completed.

To satisfy the requirements for the Community Work stream, practical placement may be undertaken in work related to any stream. Modules of competency for which a practical placement is compulsory are printed in bold. However, in order to satisfy the requirements for the Aged Care stream, some hours must be completed in this stream.

Certificate II in Construction (General)

The Certificate II in Construction is designed to provide students with skills and experience that can be used on a building site. It also provides students with relevant occupational health and safety procedures for materials and equipment to ensure that students work safely and efficiently:

 

Course Duration: 20 weeks x 2 courses
Dates: Semester 1 & Semester 2, 2004
Times: 2 days per week, 9 am to 1 pm
Venue: Osborne Park
Cost: $1.50 per training hour
(in line with Ministerial Fees - Concessions available)
Pathways: Completion of units through either continued studies at a TAFE Institute or into a traineeship
